This was my first time shooting with an
underwater housing. Now I know why they call it
"underwater." As you can see in this piece, most of what
I had to shoot was just above the surface of a breaking
surf. Talking about a challenge. My Sony Z1 all of a
sudden weighed 45 pounds. And when the waves forced it
against my legs... Ouch!
The pictures were sure worth it, and as you can see, the
blind surfers were fantastic.
Thanks to Kevin Hargett, now deceased, who had the
vision to work with the local surfing clubs to create
such a creative event for the disabled.
