I couldn't believe my fortune when
Maranatha rang and asked me to write and direct a
comedic piece to promote their $10 church project.
The wheels began spinning and up sprung the "Late Night
TV" concept. The ten-minute
script was set in Costa Rica where a group of volunteers
were building a church and a school. All amateur
actors, but doing a fabulous job getting the point
across, you can build a church for only $10 - if
everyone commits.
The "studio" stuff was shot at
Brillhart Media with Rick Lewis playing the insomniac
and using an early Panasonic 42" HD display for
playback. Eventually we matted the video on the
display just to get the timings right.
Insider's note: while many of
the animals were in the wild, some were shot in the San
Jose, Costa Rica Zoo. |
